Major Taylor Book Discussion at Malcolm X Library Tomorrow
A new book on 1899 world champion track racer Major Taylor will be discussed by it's author tomorrow (6/22) evening at the fabulous Malcolm X Library in South East San Diego.
The new book by Jim Fitzpatrick is titled "Major Taylor in Australia" which is where the Major relocated his career to, due to the intense bigotry and threats he faced by white racists in America.
This event is sponsored by the Major Taylor Cycling Club of San Diego and the Malcolm X Library (5148 Market St., San Diego). Be sure not to miss this. And as one of my favorite bumper stickers ever says, "Read A Fucking Book."...So why not this one? Support a library while you're at it.

National Dump The Pump Day Tomorrow
The 6th Annual National Dump The Pump Day is tomorrow, June 16. Do your part and snub the elites who want to maintain our oil and automobile dependency by riding your bike to work instead. Support yourself and/or your local bike shop (or bike kitchen) instead.
Dump The Pump Day was started by the American Public Transportation Association. More info here.
I realize that this Dump The Pump logo is from 2009, but I like the subtitle message of the 2009 version more than the 2011 version.

Tunnel Week! Tmrw: PQ Tunnels. Wednesday: The Sewers
Whether you know it or not, this is Tunnel Week!
Tomorrow the Punk Rock MTB Ride is field trippin' to the Rancho Penasquitos Tunnels! Meet at 1pm, 30th & Juniper.
Then this Wednesday nite we're doing the first Punk Rock MTB Full Moon Ride! We will be heading down to The Sewers. Meet at 30th & Juniper at 7:30pm this Wednesday, June 15. (Last month got rained out).
We're takin' back the underground! It'll be almost as cool as this Swampy and Japanther collabo which we encountered in The Sewers last time we went:
Also, the PRMTBRides will now include more field trips as opposed to half field trips and half local rides. So we will do two field trips in a row and then local and two field trips, etc., like this:
Latest ride (was pushed back one week due to Cretins event): Field trip to Esco
June 12: Field trip to PQ
June 26: Local
July 10: Field trip to Noble
July 24: Field trip, destination unknown at this point.
August 7: Local
And in addition to those rides, every full moon will meet at Rebecca's Coffeeshop (30th & Juniper) at 7:30pm
